Trauma Informed Mental Health Counselling

Effective & holistic counselling that is more than "just talking.”

At Wild Heart Therapy, we support people through a wide range of life's challenges with compassionate, evidence-based care. While trauma remains at the heart of our practice, our team also works with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, life transitions, burnout, and the emotional impact of experiences such as separation, career change, or loss.

Wherever you're starting from, we'll work alongside you to better understand your experiences, reconnect with your nervous system, strengthen your relationships and boundaries, and build the skills needed to move towards lasting wellbeing. We believe healing isn't about becoming someone new - it's about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have always been there.

Healing happens in the context of safety, connection, and understanding. At Wild Heart Therapy, we create a supportive, compassionate space where you can begin to make sense of your experiences, reconnect with your inner resources, and gently loosen the grip of old wounds, protective patterns, and survival strategies.

Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practice and guided by non-pathologising, trauma-informed care. We believe every person has an innate capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change. Therapy begins with understanding what matters most to you, before collaboratively developing a treatment approach tailored to your goals, strengths, and unique experiences.

Along the way, you'll be supported with practical tools, strategies, and resources to help strengthen your progress and integrate what you're learning into everyday life.

How We Help You

  • Anxiety & Depression Counselling

At Wild Heart Therapy, we support people experiencing anxiety and depression with compassionate, evidence-based care that considers the whole person.

Our therapists integrate a range of therapeutic approaches - including somatic therapy, mindfulness, meditation, and other evidence-based interventions - to help you better understand your emotions, regulate your nervous system, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.

Together, we'll work towards reducing distress, building practical coping strategies, and helping you reconnect with a greater sense of calm, resilience, purpose, and self.

  • Healing Sexual Trauma

Sexual trauma can profoundly affect your sense of safety, wellbeing, relationships, and connection to yourself. At Wild Heart Therapy, we provide compassionate, trauma-informed support for people recovering from the impacts of sexual violence and abuse, whether those experiences occurred recently or many years ago.

The effects of sexual trauma often extend far beyond the event itself. You may notice changes in the way you relate to your body, your emotions, your relationships, or your nervous system without realising they are connected to what happened. Healing is about more than processing memories, it is about restoring a sense of safety, rebuilding trust in yourself, and reconnecting with your body, your values, and the life you want to live.

  • Divorce, Separation & Loss Counselling

At Wild Heart Therapy, we support people navigating the emotional impact of separation, divorce, and other significant life transitions. Whether you're adjusting to the end of a relationship, learning to co-parent, rebuilding your confidence, or making sense of a new chapter, our therapists provide compassionate, evidence-based support tailored to your unique circumstances.

Drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches - including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, somatic therapy, and other evidence-based interventions - we help you process grief, strengthen self-worth, reconnect with your values, and move forward with greater clarity and resilience. Healing isn't about returning to who you were before- it's about creating a life that feels authentic, meaningful, and truly your own.

  • Grief & Life Transition Counselling

At Wild Heart Therapy, we support people navigating the emotional impact of separation, divorce, grief, and other significant life transitions. Whether you're adjusting to the end of a relationship, learning to co-parent, living with the loss of someone important, or finding your footing in a new chapter, our therapists provide compassionate support tailored to your unique needs.

Together, we'll create space to honour your experience, make sense of the emotions that come with change and loss, and gently support you as you begin to reconnect with yourself and what matters most. Healing doesn't mean forgetting or "moving on"—it means finding a way to carry your experiences while continuing to live a meaningful life.

  • Individual Counselling

At Wild Heart Therapy, we believe healing begins with understanding, not judgement. Our approach is grounded in compassionate, non-pathologising care and a genuine belief in every person's capacity for growth and change.

Therapy begins by exploring what matters most to you. Together, we'll develop a personalised plan that reflects your goals, strengths, and unique experiences, while providing practical tools and strategies to support your progress between sessions.

  • Trauma Processing Techniques

When appropriate, our therapists incorporate advanced trauma therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Deep Brain Re-Orienting (DBR) to support the processing and integration of traumatic experiences.

These approaches can help reduce the emotional intensity of trauma, allowing you to feel safer, more connected, and less overwhelmed by the past.

Kerry Irving - Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

About Your Therapist

Meet Kerry

Well-being is deeply personal and can be nurtured in various ways. I bring a range of skills to our work together, approaching it with collaboration, intuition, creativity, and curiosity.

Like many people, I have my own experiences with trauma. Thinking I was doing the best thing, I buried it, I didn't think that it was affecting me until I found myself in a difficult place unintentionally hurting people that I loved. I didn’t realise how unresolved trauma was shaping my thoughts, emotions, and actions. My healing journey began with practices like yoga, tantra, mindfulness, breath work, and shamanism. Over time, I deepened my path by pursuing formal education in social work, which broadened my understanding of social conditioning, psychological frameworks, and human resilience.

This transformative process has brought me to a place of genuine self-acceptance and given me the skills to guide others on their own paths to healing.

Ive never met a therapist that I clicked with straight away like I did with Kerry. Her approach is real, genuine and effective. The personal progress I’ve made since working with her has meant I’m calmer, happier and enjoying life.
